Meet | Zaha Hadid

Zaha Hadid, born in Baghdad, Iraq, in 1950. Studied Mathematics at the American University in Beirut and Architecture at the Architectural Association School in London. In 1980, after her studies, she established an architecture bureau in London and taught at the Architectural Association School. In 1982, she won the Architectural Design Gold Medal for a design for conversion work on a maisonette apartment in Eaton Place, London, and the competition for the Peak Club in Hong Kong. In 1986, she came first in a competition for a building on the Kurfrstendamm in Berlin and held exhibitions at the Guggenheim Museum New York and the G.A. Gallery in Tokyo.
