The BK12 Lounge Sofa is part Bodil Kjaer’s timeless indoor-outdoor furniture collection. Beautifully crafted by Carl Hansen, the BK12 utilises straight lines to create an aesthetically minimal form. The rigid wooden frame features two squares at either side that function as both arms and legs. Visibly inspired by Cubism, the cube-like frame houses an angled seat that offers a comfortable posture. Created with both indoor and outdoor use in mind, the BK12 is as durable as it is versatile.

Cushion upholstered in water-resistant Sunbrella fabric
Cushion available in charcoal or canvas
Use a dampened, soft, non-abrasive, lint-free colourless cloth to wipe the entire surface of your wood, moving in the direction of the grain.
Dry the wood using a second non-abrasive cloth. Remember to wipe in the direction of the wood grain.
You do not need to polish the wood as part of your regular maintenance, but polishing can restore the wood’s natural shine if it begins to look dull.
Never use wax-based polish or ammonia-based cleaning products on your wood.

Does patio furniture need to be covered in the winter?
Cover your outdoor furniture properly when not in use. Weather conditions in the United Kingdom will speed up the ageing processes of wood, plastic and even metal. Covering Carl Hansen's teak outdoor furniture will prolong its longevity and original condition.
Does the BK12 Sofa require much maintenance?
Made using solid, high-quality, FSC-certifiedteak the BK12 Sofa is durable and weather resilient. The natural oils in teak wood also protect it from rot and insects. Untreated teak (pale light brown in colour) will change to a silver-grey over time. Whilst this is normal if you want to keep more of the original colour you can oil it. Untreated teak is also prone to discolouring when wet, for example, ring marks from drinks. If it's the oiled teak version, be sure to re-oil before the wood starts to look dry and pale.
How do I assemble the Carl Hansen BK12 Outdoor Sofa?
The BK12 Two Seat Sofa requires a small amount of assembly. The elements that make up the BK12 consist of a backrest, seat, cross strut and two armrests. Assembly is a straightforward process, using an Allen key and nineteen screws (of three lengths) to fix the elements together. Constructing Carl Hansen's BK12 Patio Bench/Sofa will require two people as it weighs approximately 31kg (similar to a large dog).
Does the Carl Hansen BK12 Bench come with cushions?
The Carl Hansen BK12 Outdoor Sofa by Bodil Kjaer does not come with cushions. Made with water-resistant Sunbrella fabric, the BK12 cushions (available to purchase separately) come in, Charcoal 54048 or Canvas 5453 colourways.
