Designed by Robin Day, the Case Furniture 675 Chair is an iconic piece from 1952. Its once ground-breaking design boasts an ergonomic shape that delivers a striking design alongside a comfortable sitting position.

The 675 Chair is one of the most recognisable pieces of the Twentieth Century, receiving the prestigious Design Guild Mark Award in 2015. The chair’s most prominent feature is its arching veneered plywood back that gracefully envelops the body. Over 70 years old, its age is a testament to its timeless design.

Use a dampened, soft, non-abrasive, lint-free colourless cloth to wipe the entire surface of your wood, moving in the direction of the grain.

Does the 675 Chair fit under a dining table?

The arm height on the 675 Chair is 66cm, comfortably fitting under a table with a height of 70cm. Roughly two-thirds of the chair will tuck under a table, until it reaches the higher part of the backrest.

Can the backrest be replaced on the 675 Chair?

The back rest on the 675 Chair is easily replaceable at home. The back rest fixes in place by 4 screws underneath the brass fittings. Please get in touch with us for a detailed explanation on how to change the back rest.

Designed by Robin Day in 1952, the 675 Chair is one of the most recognised designs from the 20th Century. Brought back to life in 2014 by Case, The 675 Chair won the prestigious Design Guild Mark in 2015.

How is the backrest made on the 675 Chair?

One of the 675 Chairs key features is the curvaceous plywood back rest. Using layers of thin veneer around a single mould, the fluid shape takes place. In 1952, this was a pioneering technique which allowed the arms and back to be one continuous piece.

The 675 Chair does not require any home assembly. Made from three pieces, the frame, the seat, and the back rest - the 675 Chair comes fully assembled.
