Designed by Johansson in 1955, Fredericia’s J64 Chair and J 63 Foot Stool pay tribute to traditional Windsor and Nordic Folk furniture. The simple structures with their gentle, pleasing curves are not only practical and versatile but visually attractive.
The chair’s curving back rest extending to the sides is reflected in the gently curved seat of the chair, which in turn is repeated in the seat of the footstool. The pieces stand alone, but together the chair is transformed, with the addition of lambskin or cushions, from a dining chair to an easy chair for relaxation in the lounge.

Ejvind A. Johansson built upon Børge Mogensen’s ambition to funish the homes of Danes with functional modernism. In general, Johansson was perceived as unorthodox in his methods and philosophies. Nevertheless, his J64 chair pays homage to principles of Mogensen’s methodology.
Fredericia began as a humble Danish design house, born of a proud heritage. A heritage of unfaltering dedication to the perfection and progression of the design craft. Fredericia work with some of the world’s greatest designers & architects.
