The Series 7 is a classic piece that is immediately recognisable by its curvaceous veneer back. One of the most iconic stackable chairs in design history, the Series 7 is a prime example of timeless design. Remaining popular for six decades, the piece is a long-standing staple product of Danish outfitters Fritz Hansen. Designed by the world-renowned Arne Jacobsen, the piece embodies his signature style of flowing lines coupled with a clean aesthetic. The Series 7 Chair has an elegant form that offers a touch of class to any environment it inhabits.
A clean and wet towel should be used to wipe the surface of any product that is exposed to ordinary or corrosive liquid within 10 minutes. A piece of dry cloth should then be applied to absorb the residual moisture. Please try not to apply a detergent with a high concentration of alcohol or a bleaching effect to clean household products. If you have no alternative, you must wipe the detergent off immediately after cleaning to remove corrosive liquid residue.

How are the seat and backrest made on the upholstered Series 7 Chair?
The shell (seat and back) of the Series 7™ Chair is made of pressure moulded veneer. This consists of 7 layers of inner veneer and 2 layers of outer veneer on the front and back. The inner veneer is always beech and the outer veneer is available in 10 different natural veneers and 16 different colours. After this, a thin layer of foam and upholstery is your chosen fabric or leather is applied.
Does Jacobsen's Upholstered Chair require assembly?
The Upholstered Series 7 Chair doesn't require any home assembly. Made from two pieces; the wood moulded veneer with upholstery shell and steel base comes with a variety of finishes and fabrics. It comes pre-assembled.
Will the Series 7 Armchair with upholstery slide under a dining table?
The upholstered armrest height of the original Fritz Hansen Armchair is 69.5cm. This should slide under any modern dining table with a space of 70cm from the underside table-top to the floor. Almost the entire Series 7 Chair will fit under a table until it reaches the inside of the backrest.
Do Fritz Hansen offer spare parts for the Upholstered Series 7 Chair?
Yes, Fritz Hansen offers spare parts to replace the various elements that make up the Upholstered Series 7 Chair. Though keep in mind the chair will likely need reupholstering as the fabrics will not match up. They are easy to replace and this can be done yourself at home. Is the upholstered version of the Series 7 Side Chair with Armrests iconic?
Yes, all versions of the Series 7 celebrate the collaboration between Arne Jacobsen and Fritz Hansen. The partnership dates back to 1934. That said it was not until 1952 that the collaboration made its first breakthrough with the Ant™Chair. This was quickly succeeded by the Series 7™ Chair in 1955, thereby enabling both Jacobsen and Fritz Hansen to write their names into furniture history.
