The Hive Pendant Lamp is a stylish piece resembling that of a natural beehive, as its name suggests. The distinct piece, available in both vibrant yellow and polished aluminium offers two distinct aesthetics depending on the chosen colourway.

Its striking sculptural shape is both aesthetically stimulating and functional, as it allows light to diffuse within its surroundings in interesting ways. An elegant piece, the Hive is most effective above a dining table as a focal point of the room. Due to its multi-layered shape, the Hive promises to illuminate the room without any additional unwanted glare.

What makes Verner Panton's Hive Light a good pendant light?

With some pendant lights, glare can be an issue. Whereas the Hive Pendant can hang at any height without dazzling its audience. This modern pendant light has an ingenious abstract shape with a difference. Panton's Hive Pendant uses concentric shades of varying sizes layered together to create a completely glare-free pendant light.

Should all my light fixtures be the same metal?

Matching metal finishes is not necessary for a modern home. Lighting fixtures are especially flexible. They emit light anyway which almost always distorts the colour of the metal, be it aluminium or steel. If you have very different colours and metals then opt to keep them 2-2.5m apart.

Is the Hive Pendant from Verpan hard to clean?

No, the Hive light is easy to clean. Tightly wring out a soft cloth soaked in warm water with a small amount of mild detergent. Then turn off the light and simply wipe the layered surfaces clean (not the bulb).

What inspired the Hive pendant's name?

As you might expect the Hive pendant light's name is inspired by the organic layers and sculptural forms seen in a beehive. Originally intended to be a floor lamp Verpan discovered the design to be unbalanced when prototyping. The lamp head has been kept as it was intended and now the piece is a pendant light instead. Panton famously drew inspiration from nature's spectacular patterns, colours and forms.

How is light dispersed from the Hive Pendant?

Hive emits a lateral and downward glow, giving a good level of surrounding light. The light cannot dazzle its audience as it travels out via several concentric shades. Perfect diffusion.
